Abbreviated breast MRI for evaluating breast cancer before initiation of neoadjuvant chemotherapy: A cross-sectional study

BackgroundAlthough, there are accumulating evidence about diagnostic role of abbreviated breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in screening setting, the implementation MRI staging cancer has been poorly elucidated.ObjectiveTo evaluate performance estimating extent disease before initiation neoadjuvant chemotherapy.MethodsA total 54 patients with biopsy-proven main lesion referred to by standard protocol chemotherapy were retrospectively enrolled. From a protocol, data set consisting fat-saturated T1-weighted (T1W) pre-contrast and first two T1W post-contrast series reconstruction their subtraction including maximum intensity projection (MIP) obtained interpreted. The concordance rate (as reference standard) compared. Diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive negative predictive value calculated, as well.ResultsThe size mass was 38.6 ± 17.3 40.7 17.9 for respectively. All detected 100% concordance. Concordance 98.1% 94.4% terms multifocal/multicentric status NME, high sensitivity specificity more than 90% regarding detection, measurement mass, determination multifocal/multicenter NAC involvement.ConclusionAbbreviated may be reliable surrogate evaluating cancer.
